Today I have another product that can be layered over either nail polish or gel, the Born Pretty Store Chameleon Cloud Iridescent Flakies in the the shade #1. I was very intrigued because the promo pics showed a ton of shift and I wanted to see the results for myself. So how did they do?

The Born Pretty Store Chameleon Cloud Iridescent Flakies #1 come in a small jar containing .2grams. This may seem like very little, but honestly you could get plenty of manis out of a single jar - a little goes a long way. I used this product over a regular nail polish, Rica Blackout, which is a one-coat, shiny black. I then put on a layer of top coat and tried a couple different methods for application. One was to use a sponge applicator to dab them on the tacky nail, and the other was to dip my whole nail in the jar. The latter technique you can see on my index finger, which is a bit more saturated with flakes. If the flakes overlap too much, you lose the dramatic color shift and they become more like a pearl. So overall, I prefer the dabbing method. The flakes will blow around quite a bit with air, so you want to be in a still place when using them. They cling and compress nicely on the nail as long as the surface is tacky. After placing the flakes, I applied a regular top coat, which enhanced the color shift even more. Some texture remained on my nail, so they were not perfectly smooth with a single layer of top coat. I was worried about removal and used a peel off base coat, but it turns out I didn't need to, as they dissolve nicely in acetone as I discovered while cleaning up stray flakes.
Born Pretty Store Chameleon Cloud Iridescent Flakies #1 are iridescent flakes that shift from red to green. The effect wasn't as strong as the promo pics in terms of color intensity, but they were still very shifty and lovely!
Overall, I had a blast using these and bought the other colors. I can imagine these would be so handy as a base for nail art. The effect will be strongest over a dark color, but there is certainly the possibility of using them with any shade you fancy.
