Indie Polish by Patty Lopes at Psyche's Beau Swatches and Review

I'm super excited to share three creations of Indie Polish by Patty Lopes! This is a Brazilian brand I had been eager to try for years, but it was not carried by any United States stockists. The good news is that Phuong at Psyche's Beau has stepped up to bring us this gorgeous brand, and she ships internationally. Let's check out three amazing shifters from the new lineup (out of 41 shades stocked - wow!)

First, let's start with an interview with Patty Lopes herself and information from Psyche's Beau about the release, along with a coupon code for 10% off!

How did you get into the world of indies?

I started making the indies because I was already addicted to the polishes of other countries, I resold them to the customers, when I saw that the Americans made their indies, I went from bringing imported polishes to raw material and learning to make my own indies.

When did you start mixing and when did you launch your brand?

I began to mix in 2012 and to offer to the friends of this world of polishes, then was born the Indie by Patty Lopes.

What is your work industry, or what did you do prior to making nail polish? 

I've done other arts like soaps and moisturizers, but they were just for the most intimate friends. In addition to the indies, I have always worked with my father in the representation of aviation parts. So the indies is a way to keep creating new ideas.

What made you decide to finally pursue your passion?

After buying so many colors from different brands and then getting to know the indies made by the foreign girls, I started to want more indies than industrialized polishes. After researching and knowing what I could do for my use and for others who also love to paint my nails, I could not stop with this art. It is very gratifying to create a color and put together textures in an indie, inspired by books, movies, personalities, in short, it is an endless world of varieties for creation through colors.

What inspires your creativity?

The inspirations come from researching trends, times of the year, books, movies, series I love, there is an endless source to finalize a work.

What should we look forward to in the future from you? 

I believe that the industries creating every day innovative material and quality to be able to make new indies, we can always have fun and we are very happy to have news on our nails.

It's great your summary, what I mean with personalities is when we draw inspiration from some celebrity, person who became very well known, for example, Frida Kalo, Albert Einstein, Anne Frankie. Be free to put it as it is used in the USA, many times in the translation we are a little confused…hahaha.

What started off as a polish addiction has turned into a labor of love for maker, Patricia Lopes. Since the early 2010s, Patty has been a fan of indie polish from all over the world. She imported polishes for herself from various makers and, with a background in sales, shared the love by reselling to fellow polish lovers in Brazil.

She had the urge to create her own art and began researching and importing materials. Experienced in mixing body care products, nail polish was an inevitable progression. Mixing began initially as a creative outlet, was then shared with intimate friends, then eventually her eponymous line was released to the public in 2012.

Patty’s collections often inspired by books, pop culture, seasons, and historical figures. Collaborating with other makers and members of the indie community is also a source for her creativity, as well as joy.

Now time to look at some of the polishes!

Indie Polish by Patty Lopes Fiona is a strong, metallic multichrome shimmer that shifts from emerald green to magenta to gold to green. It does not have a base colorant so you will need three or four thin coats on its own for this look, or you can layer it over black. Nice, smooth formula and I was pleasantly surprised that there were minimal brushstrokes for such a strong multichrome. It had a medium to fast dry time.

Indie Polish by Patty Lopes Jacob is a blue-magenta-green strong metallic multichrome with linear holo shimmer. Holy moly, this was like I dipped my nails in holo multichrome metal! This does not have a base tint and will cover in three or four thin coats, but you can also layer it over black. Again, minimal brushstrokes and a good dry time.

I had to take this picture because the polish is so metallic and reflective it cast rainbows on my palm just from holding the bottle in my light!

Indie Polish by Patty Lopes Precious Shield is a copper to gold duochrome microflake with gold flakes and gold holo microglitter. I wore this in three thin coats and in spite of the glitter it was pretty smooth. It has a medium to quick dry time and good formula.
