I'm back with the final edition of my 2017 Favorites, all polishes featured on the blog in the last year. There were many more polishes I loved, but I had to limit this to polishes I had photographed and posted. Click on each highlighted name to see the original review. If you missed it Part 1 is here and Part 2 is here. Let's get going!
*some polishes purchased and others sent by the make or PR for photography*
Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Reindeer Wolfcastle. Oh how bittersweet! Dave has just announced that he is closing up shop, so this is one of the last releases ever from the brand. I still don't accept this reality. Reindeer Wolfcastle is brown, shimmery, holo perfection! So much depth.
Paint It Pretty Polish Better Not Pout was from the Tis the Season holiday collection. The variety of shifting shimmers pop out beautifully from the jelly-like base. This was a huge standout for the year for me.
PoSHlish Bring Them Home was from the Monthly Awareness Polish Box December 2017. It is a soft and lovely pink-to-white thermal.
Powder Perfect Maid Marian from the Midlands Collection was beautifully multichrome while also being a rich brown. This is the kind of polish I could wear every day!
Pretty Beautiful Unlimited Stay Vigilant is also from the December Monthly Awareness Polish Box. It has a mix of multichrome iridescent glitters and holo flakes in a bright, cool red base. This polish really has made me a new fan of the brand!
Pretty Jelly Nail Polish is a perennial favorite of mine, and a brand I have been buying from for more than four years! Singin' in the Rain was from the August Polish Pickup, and it is an amazingly opaque multichrome flake holo with tons of flash.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Gilty Party is a foil with a mix of silver and copper microflakes. There were a number of polishes that came out like this in 2012 and this one performs as good as the best of them for a reasonable price. I will be a forever fan of this shade, which also stamps well.
Sassy Pants Polish Buddy System was from the December Monthly Awareness Polish Box. It is a bright turquoise shimmer with a touch of holo. It really gives my nails a lot of dimension.
Smokey Mountain Lacquers Trick Or Treating Under the Stars is a polish close to my heart! This was part of her ongoing collaborations series and I came up with the idea. It recalls the joy of trick or treating on a crisp fall day, with the multichrome flakes channeling fall leaves and the holo microflakes representing the stars. I love how Kim executed this perfectly!
Starlight & Sparkles Polish Never Forgotten is also from the Monthly Polish Awareness Box (which releases its next edition on Friday by the way!) This is a nice jelly shimmer with a bright sky-blue base. I love the brand a lot and always snap up their new releases.
Supermoon Lacquer Kveldulf was from the Werewolf Edition Super Duo with Supermoon Lacquer. Mardi throws ALL THE INGREDIENTS into her polishes. They are amazingly complex and also opaque, and this one takes it to a whole other level. I love the base navy shade to begin with but look at that bottle shot, man! Those shimmers! That shift! I love this polish forever.
Supernatural Lacquer Fox Fires. Whoa! This was part of the Aurora Borealis Holiday Trio, three of the shiftiest multichrome holos I have ever tried. I am an especially big fan of the magenta-gold shift on this one.
Tonic Polish Sweet Pea was from a quartet with Ever After Polish. This polish looks like a dusty succulent plant and is exactly the kind of shimmery multichrome that Lindsay does so well. I love it!
Top Shelf Lacquer Witches Brew was from the Liquor Treat Collection. This shimmery blue had a lovely shift to it and plenty of holo. Amy's formulas are also perfection. All around beautiful.
Last alphabetically, but definitely not least, is Wildflower Lacquer Houses of the Holo. This collection arose out of a discussion I had with Taylor about how Led Zeppelin song names would make great punny names for holo polishes. This was the first one I brought up and I love that she made it into a gold foil holo with a slight shift. This polish is everything!
That's what I've got for 2017! I hope you enjoyed this roundup of favorites. If you missed it Part 1 is here and Part 2 is here. I can't wait to see what my favorite brands will make in 2018 and to discover new favorites! Did you have one here that you liked best?
