LynB Designs 13 Days of Holo-Ween Beetlejuice Edition Advent 2024 Swatches and Review
I purchased a number of mystery advents last year and thought I would share some of them since there aren't a lot of photos out there. LynB Designs has one that counts down to Halloween and that was one I bought for the first time. The price was $85 for 13 polishes, which comes to $6.54 per polish. Since it contains one shatter finish, which the brand normally sells for $12 with no discounts due to the expense of the base, if you subtract that off the price, the other polishes average for a little over $6, which is the brand's regular price during 50% off sales. For fun, I will not only review and describe the polishes, but also ask the question, would I buy this one if it were not in a mystery collection.
Day 1 LynB Designs Deliver Me from LL Bean is a dark hunter green jelly with a mix of glitters in different colors, shapes, and finishes. I wore it in four thin coats, but two or three will cover. It dried quickly and it was not difficult to get the glitters to spread out. I wore a glitter grabber and then quick-dry top coat over it, and it still had a little texture due to the glitter. Since I'm not keen on larger plastic glitters, this is probably one I would have skipped. If it were just the jelly base, that is something I would have liked. Even though, this is a fun throw back to the early days of indie polish and glitter jellies.
Day 2 LynB Designs Draw a Door is a carnation pink jelly with blue shimmer. This is shown in four thin coats and some nail line is still visible. The dry time and formula were good. This is probably one I would have skipped because I'm not as fond of light pinks.
Day 3 LynB Designs Begins with Sucks and Ends with Yes is a white-to-royal-blue solar jelly with pink-to-gold duochrome iridescent small-flake shimmer. It shows as a white jelly without UV light and blue with sun / UV exposure. I wore this in four thin coats and there was a little visible nail line. The formula and dry time were good. Since both colors are lighter, this is also probably one I would have skipped.

Day 4 LynB Designs The Juice Is Loose is an olive jelly with green-to-blue duochrome shimmer. I wore it in four thin coats and there is some nail line. It had a nice, quick-drying formula. This is a polish that made a real splash due to its status as a "prugly" or pretty-ugly. It was popular enough to be released on its own. LynB released some other pruglies in 2024 and I'm always so glad to see shades like that available. Personally I love them and really enjoy murky greens. This was definitely one I would buy on its own!
Day 5 LynB Designs I Myself Am Strange and Unusual is a black with pink-green duochrome large particle shimmer and blue-purple duochrome shimmer. I wore this in three thin coats, but one or two would cover. This has a quick dry time and great formula. I am a huge fan of magnetics and this one made the set worth it for me alone. I like this ultra-glowing blue magnetic pigment. It works great magnetized or as a multichrome without magnetization. This was a definite would-purchase!

Day 6 LynB Designs Venture Someplace Scary is an iron blue jelly with pink-green iridescent multichrome flakes. I wore it in four thin coats, but two or three will cover. This had a medium fast dry time and needed top coat to smooth. I really do like this one and would have purchased it individually.
Day 7 LynB Designs Never Trust the Living is a pink-gold-green multichrome iridescent jelly with silver holo shred glitter. I wore it in four thin coats and there was some nail line. It needed top coat to fully smooth. The formula was good and quick-drying. I was glad to try a polish with holo shred glitter because normally I would skip it due to it being plastic, but was glad to see it didn't have much texture compared to regular plastic glitter. I'm still not sure if I would bought it alone because it is a pastel, but probably not.
Day 8 LynB Designs One Big Dark Room is a thermal with cornflower blue in the warm state and dark navy blue in the cool state, and blue-pink duochrome shimmer. I wore it in four thin coats, but two or three will cover, and it had a good formula and dry time. I'm not as keen on dusty blues, so I probably would have skipped this, but if it were not thermal and just the navy cool state, I might have grabbed it.
Day 9 LynB Designs Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a clear polish with clear and purple reflective glitter and holo microglitter. I wore it in four thin coats and some of the nail was visible underneath. This would be great as a topper. It had a good fast-drying formula and was completely smooth with a glitter grabber and quick dry top coat. It was no more difficult to remove than a regular reflective glitter. I do like reflective glitter, so I would have bought it individually.
Day 10 LynB Designs Of Course They're Dead They're Ghosts is an orchid foil polish with blue-silver-to-pink duochrome shimmer. I wore it in three thin coats, but two will cover. It was slightly prone to bubbling but otherwise had a good, quick-drying formula. I love super-metallic foils and they are rare among indie polishes. I'm glad to see one made, and even though I don't love lighter pinks, I would have bought this individually for the finish. I like that it had a subtle duochrome, too.
Day 11 LynB Designs Life Is Short But Death Is Super Long is a dark olive with scattered holo shimmer and purple-red-gold multichrome shimmer. I wore this in four thin coats, but two will cover. This had a great formula and dried quickly. It needs top coat for a glassy finish. This is definitely one I would have bought on its own. The murky base, holo, and multichrome are all features I loved. This had such a nice shift to it.
Day 12 LynB Designs It's Showtime is a thermal with a crimson warm state and claret cool state with scattered holo shimmer. I wore this in four thin coats, but two or three will cover, and it had a nice, quick-drying formula. I am careful about buying thermals since they don't have an indefinite shelf life, but will get them if I like both the cool and warm states. I would have purchased this one since I loved both colors and the scattered holo shimmer. This was fun to wear and I'm glad I have it.
Day 13 LynB Designs Make My Millennium is a dark violet jelly shatter polish with gold flakes. I wore it in one coat over It's Showtime and in four coats on its own over bare nails. This is my first time wearing an indie shatter. The polish is pretty textured and needs a couple coats of top coat to smooth. On its own, sadly the polish lasted less than one day. I'd say that unless you want to really wear one as shatters, they won't work well as regular polishes. This is one I'd skip for that reason, but I would definitely have bought it alone as a regular polish. I loved the color combo!

This is my first time reviewing an advent. I liked the idea of being able to provide swatches that weren't otherwise available. Let me know if you like this and it is helpful. It was kind of fun to think about if I would have bought each polish on their own. I would have bought 7 of the 13 if sold individually, and at $85 for the set, that means I got the ones I really liked for $12 each and the rest for free. Overall, I feel that is a decent value and I'm glad I got it, especially when you factor in the fun of photographing and reviewing.
