Paint It Pretty Polish June 2020 Magnetic Collection Swatches and Review

Paint It Pretty Polish has just released four new magnetic polishes with a dark, night-sky aurora vibe. This quad is nicely priced at only $8.56 each, from this Canadian brand. The polishes have a variety of interesting elements, including multichrome, flakes, and holo. Let's have a closer look!

First of all, formula notes, since these are similar. They have a medium-fast dry time and easy consistency. Due to the texture of the magnetic pigments and flakes, they need top coat for smoothness and shine. I wore them all in four thin coats, but two or three will cover. They are all quite pretty when worn unmagnetized, but I chose to wear them as full manis using a couple magnets. Here is my method for getting a nice, clear shift. I use an extra-large bar magnet under my nail as I paint, and hold the finger on top of the magnet until the polish is mostly dry to the touch before moving on to the next nail. I magnetize each coat this way until the last coat, when I take a narrower, smaller bar magnet to get a more focused line (the width of the magnet determines how "sharp" the cat-eye will look) and hold it above the nail until the polish is at least tacky to the touch. Finally, I finish with a quick-dry top coat (Sally Hansen Insta-Dri) and hold the narrow bar magnet over each nail until it is dry to the touch. The technique is a little more time consuming, but it ensures a really strong effect that doesn't fade as the polish dries.

Paint it Pretty Polish Magnetic Magic is a black jelly with magenta-gold-green multichrome magnetic shimmer and magenta-gold-green multichrome flakes. Unmagnetized, this will look like a multichrome with flakes.

Paint It Pretty Polish Magnetized is a dark navy blue jelly with dark blue magnetic shimmer, magenta-gold-green multichrome microflakes, and indigo-magenta flakes. The magnetic effect is slightly more subtle with this one, due to the lower contrast between the blue magnetic shimmer and deep blue base. It will look like a deep multichrome flake polish without being magnetized.

Paint It Pretty Polish Northern Lights is a black jelly with aqua-magenta multichrome magnetic shimmer, gold microflakes, magenta-gold-green multichrome microflakes, and gold-green multichrome flakes. Unmagnetized, it looks like a magenta and green multichrome shimmer/flake black jelly.

Paint It Pretty Polish Polar Opposites is a dark gray jelly with purple magnetic shimmer with aqua-gold-green multichrome microflakes, blue-magenta-gold-green multichrome flakes, and strong holo shimmer. The magnetic effect is more subtle on this one due to the dark purple magnetic shimmer against the dark gray base. Unmagnetized, the holo and larger flakes take over the look of the polish.

Paint It Pretty's new magnetic polishes are available now in the brand's Etsy store. I personally love magnetic polishes, and these are so fun. It is nice that they also have lots of special effects that look great magnetized and unmagnetized. Do you have a favorite? I think I am partial to Northern Lights due to the fun aqua magnetic shimmer and the contrasting gold microflakes.
