It's time for another Polish Pickup! This month the theme is Magic & Alchemy and the makers have created a nice variety of products and finishes from this inspiration. The Polish Pickup is a Facebook group and pop-up shop that offers monthly pre-orders of indie polish made to themes voted on by members of the group. The pre-order runs from Friday, September 6 at 11AM EDT to Monday, September 9 at 11:59. I am doing things a little differently this time, since I have fifteen products to share, and combining everything in one post. Let me know if you like it better this way or as individual posts!

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Little Wee Witch has a clear base with strong linear holo shimmer and orange, red, fuchsia, blue, and purple holo glitters. It can also be used as a top coat in a single coat. I wore it with four thin coats for maximum bling. It has a quick dry time and needs top coat to smooth.
Inspiration: The one and only Rowena MacLeod from Supernatural! Fabulous, sarcastic, ageless, magical...Rowena is as magnificent a witch as they get!
Price: $12

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Quite Magnificent is a matte top coat with blue/green duochrome aurora shimmer and flakes. I wore it first in four coats on its own, then over Little Wee Witch. It dries quickly and has a nice formula.

Bee's Knees Lacquer The Small Science is a royal purple jelly with red/green multichrome shimmer and gold/green duochrome iridescent ghost flakes. I wore it in four thin coats for maximum depth, but two or three will do. Medium dry time and nice formula. This polish has a LOT of shift and is especially pretty in the shade.
Inspiration: the Grishaverse books

Indie Lacquer Ms. Frizzle fo Shizzle is a baby blue creme-jelly with neon dot, square, diamond, and triangle glitter. I wore it in four thin coats and with top coat to smooth. The dry time was fast and it dried shiny. The glitters in this polish are huge and so I recommend putting the bottle upside down a while before using to ensure maximum distribution.
Inspiration: Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus.
Price: $10

Literary Lacquers Every God and Devil There Ever Was is a indigo jelly with red-to-green iridescent multichrome flakes and microglitters. I wore it in four thin coats for maximum depth, but two or three will cover. Nice formula and dry time. It needs top coat to smooth.

Moonflower Polish Minor Mending is a charcoal gray holo with gold microflakes. It works as both a stamping polish and a regular polish, with a quick dry time. I wore it for the full swatches in two thin coats, but one will cover. It needs top coat for shine. The pickup as a stamping polish is nice and easy and it will do fine lines well.
Inspiration: The Magicians - Season 4 Episode 13 finale.

Pretty Beautiful Unlimited Begin Thy Magic Spell is an olive jelly with holo shimmer and microflakes, silver holo microglitter, six types of multichrome iridescent crystal flakes and multichrome flakes, and blue-to-red multichrome aurora shimmer. I wore it in four thin coats, but fewer will do. It dries quickly and fairly smooth for a polish with glitter, but does need top coat to be completely smooth. I love the unexpected red shift in a green polish!

Pretty Beautiful Unlimited Temptation Matte Top Coat is scented with a fresh apply fragrance and dries quickly to a satin finish. It is shown over Begin Thy Magic Spell.

Pretty Jelly Nail Polish A Whole New World is a violet foil with holo microflakes and blue/red, aqua/purple, and red/gold multichrome flakes. I wore it in four thin coats, but two or three will cover. I recommend thin coats as the flakes and foil make the texture a little thicker than average, but very manageable. Good dry time.
Inspiration: Aladdin
Price: $12

Starlight Polish Purifying Flames has a clear base with strong red-to-green multichrome UP pigment, red, orange, and yellow microflakes, gold holo microglitter, orange/gold/green multichrome microglitter, and red/green and bronze/green multichrome flakes It works on its own and as a topper. I wore it in four thin coats on its own and in a single coat over black. It has a fast dry time and needs top coat to smooth completely, though it is not significantly textured on its own.
Inspiration: Fire, and the belief in fire’s ability to purify, usually by the destruction of evil or corrupting elements.
"I’ve always loved that interpretation of fire, both as a magical element and as a metaphor for personal change. To burn away one’s old self in a bright blaze of change, emerging refined and honed, having shed things that weigh down and hold back, and becoming one step closer to the person you want to become. I wanted this topper to be like a phoenix in a bottle, a phoenix aflame. I wanted this top coat to feel like a celebration of that process of change."
Price: $17.50
200 bottles available
Starlight Polish Purifying Flames over black
The Soapy Chef's Every Flavor Wax is a masterpiece of variety and something you can customize for your own unique melt! There are twenty different "flavors" or scents represented in the beans, which have individual identifiers on the back of the box. It is a very cool concept, and the overall scent is pleasant, perhaps a bit fruity with a warm base and a hint of musk. I did a video showing the melt over 10 minutes sped up to 1 minute. I love the concept and the result is yummy and worth the maker's hard work! It has a mild, non-overpowering throw.
Inspiration: Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans from Harry Potter
