Grace-full Nail Polish Sands Tasmania Charity Polishes for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Swatches and Review

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, and I have two beautiful shimmer polishes from Grace-full Nail Polish that benefit Sands Tasmania, a self-support group for parents that have experience the death of a baby. While I have never been pregnant myself, many of my family members have had the experience of pregnancy and infant loss. My mother and I are both only children due to the seven miscarriages my mom had and the still birth of her brother. My father and grandfather both had baby brothers who died when they were young. There is much more recognition and support of the confusion and grief that parents and siblings experience now than there once was - formerly it was only acceptable in western society to express grief through rituals and art. As a musician, one of the most moving pieces I ever experienced was Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, orchestral tone poems set to the poems of Friedrich Rueckert, who had devastatingly lost two of his children. The one that really struck me was Nun will die Sonn' so hell Aufgeh'n:

Nun will die Sonn' so hell aufgeh'n

Now the sun wants to rise as brightly
as if nothing terrible had happened during the night.
The misfortune had happened only to me,
but the sun shines equally on everyone.
You must not enfold the night in you.
You must sink it in eternal light.
A little star went out in my tent!
Greetings to the joyful light of the world.

I see this as the exact message that organizations like Sands Tasmania want to help grieving parents understand - that it is okay to feel angry that the sun still rises, that life goes on, but you are indeed not alone. That the darkness of grief can transfigure itself into the joy of love, memory, and life.

Angel Princess is a baby pink with duochrome blue-magenta shimmer. It is translucent to let the shimmer show through, so I wore it with four thin coats, but two or three will do for most. Perfect formula.
